Construction Notice No. 8 – Advanced Temporary Road Construction for York U Station

Work begins this month on the second phase of advanced roadway construction on York University’s Keele campus in preparation of York University Subway Station construction, at the east end of the Harry W. Arthurs Common. These temporary roadways will allow transit vehicles to continue to serve the campus throughout the station construction period.

Construction this fall includes:

  • constructing a temporary roadway through York Boulevard Parking lot, connecting Ian MacDonald Boulevard at Vanier Lane with York Boulevard at the signalized intersection of the TTC Busway;
  • bus bay construction on Ian MacDonald Blvd north of Vanier Lane where VIVA, YRT and Brampton Transit (ZUM) buses will be stopping once the construction commences early 2011.
  • sidewalk construction on the north side of Ian MacDonald Blvd in front of the Track and Field Centre.
  • constructing facilities for the relocation of the Welcome Centre from York Boulevard to the northeast corner of The Pond Road and Ian MacDonald Boulevard.

Construction of these facilities is expected to be complete by late December 2010.
